Ocean Rock Fish Opens for Mid-Water!

A great new opportunity has opened up for Fall ocean fishing! You can NOW catch up to 10 rock fish, yes 10! Our fishing area will be out to deeper waters 250’ to 450'. We will be using a different gear set up to stay away from fish that have reached their quota and are protected – yellow eye, ling cod, blacks, and cabezon, china, deacon, blotched, copper, quillback, blue rock fish.

This area has been off limits for years so the rock fish species we can catch will be plentiful. You can catch  yellowtail, widow, canary, bocaccio, brown and green striped rock fish. For the month of October, we are offering $5 off! Just mention you read this on our web page or of our social platforms!

We will be doing bay crabbing with perch fishing as well! Come enjoy the fresh catch with Betty Kay Charters!

Call us at (541) 888-9021 for more information and book your Rock Fishing trip today! We’re located at 90389 Albacore Drive in Charleston, Oregon.

Thanks for a Successful Spring and Summer 2017

What a successful spring & summer with great catches for you, our Betty Kay Charters valued customers! We want you to have a wonderful experience out fishing on the mighty Pacific Ocean!
We always look forward to the nice fall weather and nice days of ocean rock fishing. Not this year however, as Oregon Dept. of Fish & Wildlife has closed ocean rock fishing.  This decision was made abruptly and ended ocean rock fishing Sunday September 17th, due to quota levels being met.

We have decided to take group crabbing trips! The Dungeness Crab are real nice this year. You are allowed 12 male Dungeness Crab and 24 red Rock Crab. Call us for more information at (541) 888-9021. We’re located at 90389 Albacore Drive in Charleston, Oregon.

You also have the opportunity for trolling for salmon on the Coos river. The rains have helped bring the salmon to the river.

Summer - Fall Fishing

The ocean fishing season has started out very productively with a nice grade of rock fish and ling cod caught by happy customers. The spring halibut fishery has provided very nice halibut catches for our customers as well! Yes!

There is a summer quota for halibut, and Betty Kay Charters offer two dates: Friday August 4th and Friday August 18th. You get your monies worth when you catch a halibut as it is so expensive in the market!

As we move into summer months, the warm currents approach our off-shore waters, and with the warm water comes the bait fish and the albacore tuna. We have scheduled dates for tuna trips so you can check our online calendar through FareHarbor or call our office at 541 888-9021! Our 12 hour trips are $200 and we take up to 12 fishers, trolling at 6 knots looking and catching tuna from 20 to 45 miles off shore. The ocean is totally different when you go off shore and are trolling in the tropical blue waters, you see different birds, whales, sharks and have the thrill of the catch when you hook onto a diving tuna!

Good things to share: Our 50' charter vessels are USCG inspected every year and carry E-PERBS, (locator beacons) rescue flotation, ADD's, (defibrillators), and satellite radios in case an emergency situation arises. Safety is our priority always along with creating an ocean adventure experience you will enjoy and want to return again.

Ocean salmon is not a viable fishery this year with low returns projected. The years of drought and ocean conditions are causing conservative management ruling. There should be opportunity this fall for catching in the different river systems. We will be fishing through October! Hope to see you out fishing and catching with us this summer & fall!

Why wouldn’t you give us a call at 800.752.6303 if you want to do some fun fishing on the Oregon Coast. We’re located at 90389 Albacore Lane in Charleston, Oregon.  Minutes away from your fishing adventure!
